Applying trigonometric ratios and Pythagoras’ theorem in two dimensions

In maths today my group and I are working from a rubric cube were we picked a topic. My group and I picked an activity (Apply trigonometric ratios and Pythagoras’ theorem in two dimensions). My group and I decided to work together on a poster. By doing this we learnt how to do trigonometry and Pythagoras. I learnt that trigonometry and Pythagoras are not as easy as my cousin told me. If I had to change anything about what we did it would be to put more words on the poster but other then that I enjoyed it making it with my group. I think next time we do this I want to get it done instead of mucking around.

Here is the work we have done today.

Create accurate nets for simple polyhedral and connect three-dimensional solids with different two-dimensional representations.

In maths today my group and I are working from a rubric cube were we pick a topic. My group and I picked an activity called Create accurate nets for simple polyhedra and connect three-dimensional solids with different two-dimensional representations. My group and I decided to work separately. By doing this we learnt that there are All kinds of nets we could make. I learnt that there a lot of different sized/shapes in nets. If I had to change anything about what we did today it would be making more nets but other then that I enjoyed it.

Here is the work I have done today.

The Human Wolf

The Human Wolf

Warning Bullying mentioned

Lily May is half human and half wolf. Lily has been bullied most of her life. Not one person had shown her kindness until now. Tyler James --a guy that is caring to others and never gives up-- met Lily at a park. Where she was all alone reading a book that he liked under a tree, with people whispering around her so he walked ups to her and comments on the book she is reading mentioning that it was his favourite. Tyler --after talking for a while-- asked for her name "I'm Lily May" she replied hesitantly "I'm Tyler James it's nice to meet you" he replied. Getting up off the dirty ground she said goodbye not thinking that they would meet again she walked away to her home. Walking into her home she tried to be as quiet as possible not wanting to wake up her parents knowing that they would be asleep.

Waking up the next day in her comfy bed she went to reach for her phone to check the time. Seeing that it was around 6:30 am she went to get ready for school. Going downstairs to the kitchen she went to make herself some toast. Getting ready for school she made her lunch and packed her bag. Whispering goodbye to her parents so as not to wake them she left the house, for the bus stop. Standing next to the sign she sees her bus coming and hops on, sitting in an empty seat she grabbed her phone and listened to music. Looking out the window she sees a bunch of other people standing around another stop sign not really caring who it was she closed her eyes. Felling the seat next to her dip down she opened them to see who it was. Surprised she saw the one person she thought she would never see again, Tyler James. Staring at him she took out one of her earbuds "Tyler" she says in disbelief. Turning around he looked at her and said "hey Lily nice to see you again" smiling Lily said "I didn't think I would see you again" "So you go to magnolia high?" Tyler asked "ya I do" Lily replied, "do you want to walk to class with me?" Tyler asked "ya I would love to" Lily answered gladly.

Walking to class Tyler sees people whispering around them like at the park. Paying no mind to them he started a conversation about classes with Lily. After that day they gradually started getting closer but at the same time, Tyler saw bruises on Lily's arms and one she came to school with a black eye. After that day he started to be more careful around her. On a Wednesday Tyler saw a bunch of girls crowding around Lily they were talking but he couldn't hear what they were saying from where he stood hiding behind a corner. Seeing Lily facial expression change fear and one of the girls shoving Lily up against the locker he had enough. He runs up to them pushing the girl away from Lily screaming "GET AWAY FROM HER!" After seeing the anger on his face the girls ran away. One of the teachers walked past seeing Tyler cradling Lily asking them what's wrong Tyler told her everything about the girls bullying Lily. The teacher walked away and told the Principal, after questioning Lily about the girls he put an end to it. Once it was all sorted out Tyler decided it was time to talk to Lily.

Sitting her down near the cherry blossom tree at the back of their school. Confused Lily asked Tyler what's wrong "I have something to say" he replied, "and what would that be?" Lily asked "I'm in love with you Lily" Tyler confessed "I've loved you since that day on the bus" shocked tears started falling down her face "Lily did I say something wrong," Tyler said worry filling his voice "I have something to tell you two" Lily said in a quiet manner "I'm half wolf Tyler" "huh? what do you mean?" "here I'll show you close your eyes" a bit confused he did as she asked "now open them" shocked he saw two dark brown ears on her head and a dark brown fluffy tail "L-Lily?" he stuttered "ya, it's me" she replied "now you know my secret do you still love me?" she asked "I'll always love you, Lily, no matter who you are or what you look like" Crying tears of happiness she kissed him " I love you two".

⟶Extended Ending⟵

"Lily hey Lily" she heard her husband call "ya?" she replied "is everything okay you've been spacing out for the past ten minutes" she smiled and said "everything perfect Tyler." "Mamma! Pappa look what I did!" turning they saw there four-year-old son Jeffery running towards them a scrap of paper in his hand. smiling Lily bent down arms wide to embrace her child 'I love my family' she thought.

Use the invariant properties of figures and objects under transformations.

In maths today my group and I are working from a rubric cube were we picked a topic. My group and I picked an activity ( We decided to do this one: Use the invariant properties of figures and objects under transformations (reflection, rotation, translation, or enlargement). My group and I decided to work separately. By doing this we learnt that there are All kinds of shapes around us. I learnt that there a lot of different sized shapes. If I had to change anything about what we did today it would be boing more but other then that it was okay.

Here is the work I have done.

Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Sixteen

What is the Hermit’s mother in law’s attitude toward him as seen in her letter?
She thinks he is innocent.

What does this suggest about the way in which the Hermit’s family actually died?
They were burnt and he put them out of there misery.

What makes Ellie change her mind about Lee on the way back from the Hermit’s hut?
The compilers report because of the lack of emotion in it.

Tomorrow, When The War Began: Chapter Fifteen

What do Ellie and Lee find in the Hermit’s hut that the others don’t know about? Photos of his family

According to the coroner’s report, what are the two possible ways the Hermit’s family died...?
Burnt alive or shot

Which do you believe? Why?
I think the son and mother burnt to death and the Hermit shot then to put them out of there misery. Because he loves them.

How to read a map

For the last few days, my group and I have made a poster called how to read maps. Rosa, Caleb W, Djarn, and I have chosen Spatial intelligence so we decided to make a poster about how to read a map. It's helping people who don't know how to read a map but want to learn about it before going camping they might get lost and have no service or when their phone went flat. I think we did a good job with the working together.

Map Word Search

In maths today my group and I are working from a rubric cube were we picked a topic. Once we picked an activity (my group decided to do this one: Communicate and interpret locations and directions, using compass directions, distances, and grid references.). My group and I decided to make a word search. By doing this we learnt that there are a lot of things we need to focus on around us. I learnt how to how to make a word search. If I had to change anything about what we did today it would be communicating more but other than that I enjoyed helping make the word search.

Here is the word search my group and me made. let's see if you can find all the words.

Wind Cart

In science, we made wind carts out of cardboard to show the four forces. My group ( Rosa, Casey, and Me) and I decided to go with the open book sail. Next time we make one I think we need to put more string on it. It was fun to make the wind cart but making this blog post was useless in my opinion.

End of Term Reflection

The pen and film represent my close viewing assessment.
My highlight (The pillows) represent sleeping.
The girl and the clock represent me stressing over the amount of time I had.
The book, hat and controller are for the people that helped me.

YR 10 CLOSE VIEWING ASSESSMENT Alicia Raroa

This is my close viewing assessment.

The Power of One, directed by John G Avildsen, is a movie about the Apartheid in South Africa. The scene where Botha stands on the stage saluting Hitler we see the director Avildsen use this three-technique: Low Angle shot, Diegetic sound and a Longshot. These techniques helped show us. so it causes the scene to have a strong impact on the audience.

In the scene where Botha stands on the stage, we see the director use a low Angle. For example, we see Botha stand tall to show that he is powerful. The purpose of that techniques is to show us that Botha thinks he’s better than everyone.

This technique created an impact by showing us that Botha is powerful and looks down upon P.K. This makes some of the audience feel Intimidated. I can relate to this because there are people that I know who look down upon others.

In the scene where Botha was saluting Hitler, we see the director use diegetic sound. For example, we see that the German national anthem was playing in the background. The purpose of that techniques is to show us that everyone supports Hitler's choice. This makes the audience see that the Afrikaners support Hitler. This might make the audience think that the Afrikaners are mean people.

This technique created impact by showing us that Botha and every one (But P.K) have pride and look up to Hitler. I can relate to this because I have pride in my country and school.

In the scene where Botha was saluting Hitler, we see the director use a long shot. For example, the director, John G Avildsen, use a long shot to show that they are saluting to Hitler. The purpose of that techniques is to show us that everyone has pride in their country. This technique created impact by showing us that Hitler was a respected person to the Afrikaners. This might make the audience think that the Afrikaners will take over South Africa again.

In the conclusion, in the film The Power of One directed by John G Avildsen we see the use of these techniques: Low Angle, Diegetic sound and a Longshot in this scene. These techniques show us how strong and powerful the Afrikaners are. This created an impact on the audience, causing them to believe that the Afrikaners are strong.

English SEXXY Paragraph

In English, we have been watching The Power-One were we had to write a group paragraph with the SEXXY structure. Here is what we did.

S: The director uses a long shot to show sergeant Borman looking at Geel Piet.
E: For example, in the long shot we see sergeant Borman is being suspicious because he has his baton by his side so you get the feeling that Geel Piet is going to be in trouble.
X: The director does this because it shows us that the sergeant knows something is off and thinks it is because of Geel Piet.
X: The effect on the audience is that they feel a sense of danger for Geel Piet because they know he has done something wrong and that he will be in trouble and the audience doesn’t want him to be in trouble.
Y: We get the same feeling of danger when Geel Piet is telling sergeant Borman what the song means before he dies.

Are students addicted to their cell phone?

Are students addicted to their cell phone?

I believe teenagers are addicted to their phones. Because they can’t go 10 minutes without looking/checking it. For an example I all ways either have my phone next to me or if it’s in charge. In an article that I have read by Steve Gardlner he had said 'In a career that spans 38 years, I have not seen any single diversion that so distracts students from reading, writing, thinking and working. When the cellphone is in front of them, they are completely focused on it. When the cellphone is in the backpack, they are worried because they can’t see it'.This is why I think students are addicted to their phones.

here's a link to a website that confirms that students are addicted to there cell phone

Human Rights

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been learning about human rights. Human rights ensure that all people are treated with dignity and equality. An example of a human right is 26. The Right to Education. Education is a right. Primary school/High School should be free. We should learn about the United Nations and how to get on with others. People should not have to pay to get an education.

Image result for the slave trade triangle(what the Slave Trade Triangle looks like)
paragraph one: What is The Slave Trade Triangle?

The Slave Trade Triangle transported people to be slaves. The Slave Trade Triangle is where some people take other people of all ages to work for free. They were taken from Africa by slave traders who had sailed from Europe. An example of this is the vogue it was depressing all the people that got treated horribly made me want to kill the people that started the slave trading. In the next paragraph, I will tell you what they did to the slaves.

Health 2018

Over the last few weeks, we have been doing Introductions, Class treaty and SMART Goal setting.

Our class Treaty was made together because we wanted to respect others in the class.

I shared the things I love in my "About Me Cube" because the things I love are important to me they are what make me how I am.
It was difficult to share Information about the things I love on a piece of paper because I don't want people to read it I wont to tell them what I love.

When goal setting it is important to have a goal that you can actually achieve.

My SMART goal is to help my family with things they need help with.
Some barriers could be that when something happens to them I might not always be there.
Enablers include being there to help them.

Te Whare Tapawha

Hauora is a Maori philosophy of health specific to New Zealand
It is made up of 4 dimensions and is highlighted in Maori health, by a model called ‘Te Whare Tapa Wha’.

In health, we had to work with people that we don't normally work with to do Hauora. I helped with writing the 4 dimensions (Physical, Socal, Mental & Emotional and Spiritual). Sometimes we didn't agree with each other but we put our ideas together.
